Why would somebody want to do this?
Congratulation to Al Gore and the United Nations Inter-Governmental Panelon Climate Change on the Nobel Peace Prize but more importantly to all of the scientists who have worked so hard to bring the detrimental effects of the current change in the Earths climate to light for many people. It is too bad all of those scientist could not each get the monetary award for the Nobel Prize to contribute to further research on this important topic.
Also of note is the potential for such research to spark internation conflict over the causes, culprits and clean-up of this situation. In the future wars about oil may be viewed as trivial... But, let's hope that is not the case.
I was listening to MPR this morning (the Minnesota NPR affiliate) and heard
a great quote. The story started with the statement: "Bush is a tremendous
weight for his party to bear right now." I searched for it just now so that
I could attribute it correctly (I know, that is rare in blogs these
days.). Google had exactly one
hit for that quote. Note, in the image below that Google says the site
was last updated 22 hours ago. But, when I click on the link and search the
page for weight it is not there... Curious.
With online phone listings (white pages); web-to-land-line-phone services; cheap, realistic text-to-speech; and more intelligent speech comprehension software will telemarketing firms stop paying people to make their calls? Even scarier, will they start to produce phone-spam in quantities comparable to email-spam?
I created a handy toolbar for my website that can be installed in your web browser. It notifies you when new journal entries have been published, provides links to different sections of the website and provides some other useful tools such as various searches, the weather, a pop-up blocker and notification of new emails (for Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or any POP3 account). You can download the toolbar via this link.
